What RunWiki is
RunWiki is a search index for speedruns from Games Done Quick marathons. It links to videos hosted on YouTube and hosts no video itself. There are no accounts and no sign-in — you can use every feature of the site without giving us any personal information.
What we collect
RunWiki uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic and performance. These are cookieless: they record anonymous page views and performance metrics, and they do not track you across sites or build a profile of you. In addition, our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server request logs, as virtually all web hosts do.
If something on the site breaks, an error report is sent to Sentry, an error-monitoring service. It contains the error message, a stack trace, your browser and operating system type, and the page URL where the error happened. We configure Sentry not to store IP addresses, and error reports are not used to identify or profile you.
We use PostHog to understand how the site is used — which searches are run, which results people open, and which filters get used. This is configured without cookies: no identifier is stored on your device, nothing persists after you close the tab, session recording is disabled, and PostHog is configured to discard your IP address and skip IP-based location enrichment before analytics events are stored. Search terms you type are recorded (truncated to 100 characters) so we can find games people look for that we do not yet cover.
Suggesting an edit
Run pages have an optional “Suggest an edit” form. If you use it, we receive the message you write and, only if you choose to provide it, your email address — which we use solely to reply to your suggestion. Details about the run you were viewing (its title, event, and page address) are attached automatically so we know which run you mean. Suggestions are delivered to us as email through Resend, an email delivery service, and are not used for marketing or shared with anyone else.
To block automated spam, the form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may process limited device and behavioral signals to tell people apart from bots. This processing is described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum. Turnstile loads only if you open the suggestion form.
What stays on your device
Your preferences — such as the spoiler-visibility toggle — are stored in your browser's localStorage under the key runwiki:prefs. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to RunWiki. Clearing your browser storage removes it.
What we don't do
RunWiki sets no cookies, shows no ads, and sells no data — analytics and error reports are anonymous, and the only personal information we ever receive is what you choose to type into the suggestion form. We have no user accounts or profiles.
Third parties
Video thumbnails on RunWiki load directly from YouTube's image servers (a Google service), and clicking a run takes you to YouTube, which has its own privacy policy. Profile images for runners and commentators load directly from Twitch's image servers (operated by Twitch Interactive, an Amazon company), which has its own privacy notice. Error reports go to Sentry (operated by Functional Software, Inc.), which has its own privacy policy. PostHog — product analytics. Receives search terms, page paths, and interaction events. No cookies, no session recordings, project-level IP discard enabled, and IP-based location enrichment disabled. During live GDQ events, the home page offers an optional click-to-load stream embed from Twitch (an Amazon company), which has its own privacy policy. Nothing loads from Twitch unless you click to open the stream. The suggestion form uses Cloudflare Turnstile (see “Suggesting an edit” above) and delivers messages via Resend, which has its own privacy policy. Run metadata comes from the public Games Done Quick donation tracker. RunWiki is not affiliated with Games Done Quick, YouTube, or Twitch.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
